the great take-over.
a friend i know posted this on her facebook :
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven
and her friend responded:
interesting how its the posture towards and not the possession of righteousness...
i felt a rush of peace. i thought, how strange to be inspired by a serendipitous social networking connection?
and now i'm thinking, my what a long time it's been since i wrote on here...

I concur. It has been too long.
You, Annie, are a gem. Unforgettable. Like the one that was lost, but never really was. Like a dream I can't forget, but a dream I can't fully remember. On the tip of my tongue. Ungraspable. What a wonder and a beauty you are; and with such wonder and beauty you see the world. A bygone time and a bygone life; you remind me of so much I can't touch or taste or smell anymore. When I knew you, you lived with such awe at the beautiful things in life. A thunderstorm; the rain; a good quote; and good music. How you walked without shoes, blades of grass protruding from between your toes. And you lived with such emotion, like it was your second skin. Existential. If only life didn't treat us all so flippantly. Maybe then we'd get something done. But you, Annie, you were perfect. And that is how I will always remember you. Always laughing, always crying, with hope. I will always love you. I know that for sure. It makes me happy to have known you. Why can't life be like it was? To just be somewhere and enjoy it, without worrying about where you're going next or where you're coming from? To be in a place that seems like it lasts forever - never yearning for what was or what will be, but to wade in the fullness of the present. For some brief moments in the past, life seemed like it couldn't get any better; it seemed as though we couldn't ever do anything more important than what we were doing. But that dream had to end, and awake from sleep we did. There are some things you can never get out of your system. For that we need a death and a resurrection. Until then, I love you.
